Hello friends! My name is David Gibbs , husband to Violette and father to Lily Bea! This Peace Lounge project is a creation that Violette and I put together a few years ago to explore our love of music and yoga.
I have memories of playing on the keyboard almost as far back as my memories exist, so I feel like music has always been with me. I was classically trained from around age 6 through my late teens, and along the way explored various other musical styles which exposed me to the pivotal art of improvisation. I was a student of science in college, which strengthened a sense of wonder and truth in my heart and mind.
The feeling that I should always keep music as a north star in my intellectual development was illuminating as a young adult. Learning multiple instruments and gaining experience in various professional live projects eventually steered me towards a career as a professor of music production at Full Sail University. Along the way I delved deeper into improvisation with the SAK Comedy Lab in Orlando, Fl as an improvisational musician.
This approach to creating music instantaneously to live action has been both illuminating and empowering on multiple levels, not just the artistic, but philosophically, intellectually, and emotionally.
I wish to not only create original pieces to share with my community and beyond but to interpret live experiences through my music to achieve a deeper connection with others. I feel that that art can be not only living in static form to provide a reference and create memories, but can also be a precious living moment that can inspire, enrich, delight, heal, and provide peace.
Hello peace-minded friend, my name is Violette Gibbs. I am a health and human movement specialist. I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2001 and I have been working in the wellness field for over 20 years. I also attended the University of Central Florida UCF, for my bachelor’s in Biology and master’s in Kinesiology
For me, yoga, meditation, and movement therapies are ”Whole Being” health practices. These practices of getting to know yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually and learning to listen and how to respond, not only bring peace to my internal environment but the external environment as well. These practices- and practice the key word - helps to keep my energy flowing, my mind peaceful, my body strong, my lifestyle balanced (that takes a lot of practice:-) and my heart connected.
I started yoga and then teaching in 2012. At The Peace Lounge, my intention is to provide at home practices for self care: to transform, lift and inspire through a safe and sustainable practice environment. I am dedicated as a research scientist to stay connected to the latest research and educational pursuits devoted to health and human movement. I practice using a framework of exercise as medicine combined with traditional yoga practices to help people improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
My specialty is in rehabilitation and pain management and I incorporate yogic techniques along with exercise with the aim to educate, empower, and enable individuals to take an active role in their own health and wellness process. These therapeutic practices include a series of exercises, yoga postures, static and dynamic stretching, breathing exercises, meditation, and self care manual therapy.
I am also hit and run survivor. I was struck by a vehicle while jogging on the Cross Seminole trail. I was left in the road, unconscious. I suffered multiple breaks and head trauma. I have had three lower leg surgeries and I am now the proud owner of an ankle fusion and hardware throughout my right leg. I’ve always loved the quote “Be as you wish to seem” by Socrates. To me it brings the idea that you can choose, you can design a life you love. No matter what happens in your life, the life you were born into, the circumstances, and the luck given to you. I apply the philosophy of yoga to my heart and mind, to help me ebb and flow, to be as I wish to seem.
